When Will Melee DPS Be Viable Again?

There's your problem right there. Eve is worthless other than an effective pub stomper. I won't lie, she's actually kind of fun to play against noobs, but ANY competent team, or even one or two competent players COMPLETELY shuts her down.

Plus, she's one of those characters that once she gets behind, she stays behind. Someone like Udyr can actually recover from a deficit.

yi can harass pretty well actually, he has no problem farming at all. he can even jungle. tryndamere on the other hand is terrible

Increasing their movespeed is a good first step

Interesting point Phreak, certainly makes sense. Explains partially why melee dps does better in DotA (larger map = more small skirmishes) than in LoL (more 5v5).

I've noticed Mundo, Udyr and Nunu are beastly on TT. Which is fine by me.

Yi's Alpha Strike is better than nothing but imo he's still terrible early game, more often than not trying to harrass with Alpha Strike results in me needing a blue pill.

Another reason why melee DPS does better in DotA is that BKB exists (and almost every melee DPS hero without some sort of built-in CC immunity gets BKB).

Anyone else think it might help to just globally reduce all champion damage by 25% or 50% even? It seems kinda silly to me when 2 level 1 players can kill another level 1 player within the duration of a single stun or grab, with the help of a few summoner spells. If damage was nerfed a little bit all around it would make fights a bit more strategic.

Of course, this has the side effect of making healing stronger. Executioner's Calling needs to be restored to it's previous form to put a check on healers.

Given how powerful HP stacking was before the general HP nerf (and it is still powerful and a legitimate strategy), and the new prevalence of healing with spirit visage and the Executioner's nerf, this would completely ruin LoL.

This would completely break burst heroes (Annie, Ryze, Ap Sion/Shaco) and promote sustained dps right click heroes (Yi, Tristana, Ashe, Trynd). So it would be a lot less tactics in the game.


One of the main problems is that Melee dps need a lot of survivability to survive long enough to do something, but also need enough damage to make them useful.
Giving them both would make them extremely powerful outside of 5v5 teamfights (laning, small skirmishes, 1v1 and when doing jungle), so i could see how it's quite a big balance problem.
