Experience

Experience

Experience is gained through out a game of League of Legends by killing minions, champions, and enemy towers. Gaining experience will cause a champion to level up periodically. The following table describes the amount of experience required to go from one level to the next:

  • Level 1 to 2 = 280
  • Level 2 to 3 = 340
  • Level 3 to 4 = 460
  • Level 4 to 5 = 640
  • Level 5 to 6 = 880
  • Level 6 to 7 = 1180
  • Level 7 to 8 = 1150
  • Level 8 to 9 = 1270
  • Level 9 to 10 = 1350
  • Level 10 to 11 = 1425
  • Level 11 to 12 = 1495
  • Level 12 to 13 = 1565
  • Level 13 to 14 = 1685
  • Level 14 to 15 = 1705
  • Level 15 to 16 = 1775
  • Level 16 to 17 = 1870
  • Level 17 to 18 = 1915

Experience from Champion Kills: Killing an enemy champion rewards a player with an amount of experience determined by the level of the champion slain. The experience gained is equal to 75% of the total experience required for a champion to go from the slain champion’s current level to the next level up. In other words, if a level 7 champion is slain, the total experience gained is 75% of the total experience required for a champion to go from level 7 to level 8, or 862.5 experience points.

Assists and Experience: A champion is given an assist after damaging an enemy champion that is then killed within 10 seconds. A champion granted an assist will evenly split the total experience reward for killing the enemy champion with all other players that received an assist or landed the killing blow and are within 1600 range of the killing blow.

Turret Experience: When a turret is killed all members of the opposing team gain global experience points, anywhere on the map, dead or alive. The experience value of the turret varies depending on the map and the position of the turret destroyed. Turrets closer to the enemy nexus are worth more than outer turrets.

Minion Experience: Killing minions in League of Legends grants an amount of experience upon their death. The experienced gained by the champion is determined by the type of minion as well as the current length of the game. Experience from minion deaths is split between all champions within 1600 range.

Neutral Monster Experience: Each type of neutral monster in League of Legends gives a different amount of experience upon death. Only champions of the same team as the champion that landed the killing blow on the monster are granted experience. Experience points are split evenly among all nearby allied champions.

Epic Monster Experience: Epic monsters grant experience rewards for an entire team of champions regardless of the location or status of those champions.
